Tianjin Economic- Technological Development Areas, abbreviated as TEDA, is one of the first batch of state-level development zones approved by the state council in 1984. In August 1986, Deng Xiaoping, the chief architect of China’s reform and globalization, inscribed “Development Zones Have a Great Future” in his own handwriting during his inspection tour of Tianjin TEDA. Since 1997, Tianjin TEDA has maintained a leading position among state-level development zones in terms of major economic indicators and comprehensive development level and once ranked first for 16 consecutive years in the comprehensive evaluation of state-level economic and technological development zones conducted by the Ministry of Commerce 中华人民共和国商务部. After more than 30 years of development, TEDA has become one of the state-level development zones with the largest economic scale, the highest degree of export-orientation and the best comprehensive investment environment in China.
